Hi, I'm Eli

A student

A lover of stories

An aspiring changemaker

I'm a strong believer in the power of stories. Personal narratives shed light on the world around us, and enacting change only comes from truly understanding our world.

As President of my JC's Student Council, I've worked on and led initiatives to hear students' issues directly and present ideas to school leaders on how we can make the student experience better. I've chaired school-wide events in the spirit of student welfare, from Orientation involving more than a thousand JC1s and over eighty student leaders, to morale-boosting initiatives before major examinations. I've done the same as President of the Peer Leaders' Council in St. Patrick's School, an institution I'm proud to be an alumnus of.

While I'm on hiatus for A-Level preparations, I also volunteer in other organisations. I've been a volunteer tutor with Project Shareducation, founded by fellow NYLA finalist and schoolmate Nazra. One of my passions is in film, so I'm also a frequent volunteer with the Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF), where great work is done to bring cinematic stories to the public eye.

Needless to say, community is something I see as a pillar to our lives, being the inspiration for Silver Kakis, to foster not just connections between the elderly, but active, healthier, and more fulfilling lives. â€‹
